Where the Word of God and the Move of God Meet.

At Harbor City Church, we’re a Word and Spirit church — grounded in Scripture, alive in the Holy Spirit, and centered on Jesus Christ.

The same God who spoke in the Bible still speaks and moves today, transforming lives through His truth and power.

At Harbor City Church, we don’t just believe in God —  He’s moving.

We are a Word and Spirit church where truth and power meet, and people are changed forever.

Statement of Faith

The Bible

The Bible is God’s inspired and trustworthy Word — timeless, true, and relevant for today. It is our final authority for faith and life.

Why it matters: God’s Word shows us who He is, who we are, and how to live free.

(2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1:21)

God

There is one God, the Creator of all things, who reveals Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — three Persons in perfect unity. This union is called the Trinity.

  • The Father loves and leads His family.
  • Jesus the Son redeems and restores.
  • The Holy Spirit lives in, empowers and guides believers today.

Why it matters:
God isn’t distant or detached; He is relational, personal, and for you.

(Deut. 6:4; John 14:16–17)

The Father

God the Father is the Creator of heaven and earth — loving, just, and full of mercy. He is the source of all life, the One who sent His Son to redeem the world, and the One who adopts believers as His own children.

Why it matters: God isn’t a distant force; He’s a perfect Father who loves you, provides for you, and desires a personal relationship with you.

(Gen. 1:1; John 3:16; 1 John 3:1; Matt. 6:9)

The Son – Jesus Christ

Jesus is the eternal Son of God who became fully human yet remained fully God. He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for our sins, rose from the dead, and now reigns as Lord overall.

Why it matters: Jesus didn’t come to condemn you — He came to restore relationship and give us new life.

(Luke 4:18; 1 Cor. 15:3–4)

The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit was promised by the Father and sent by the Son, Jesus Christ. He indwells every believer, bringing new life, guidance, and power to live victoriously.

Why it matters: You don’t have to live life in your own strength — God lives in you.

(John 14:16–17; Rom. 8:11)

Humanity

We believe humanity was created by God in His image — male and female — with equal value, distinct design, and divine purpose. Every person is created with dignity, worth, and the capacity for relationship with God.

Through Adam and Eve’s disobedience, sin entered the world, and humanity became separated from God’s presence and purpose. Sin distorted God’s design and mankind’s identity, but through Jesus Christ, every person can be restored, redeemed, and made new.

Why it matters: You were made in God’s image — not by accident or mistake. Sin distorted God’s design and your identity, but grace restores both.

(Gen. 1:26–27; 2:7; 3:6–7, 23; Rom. 5:12–19; 2 Cor. 5:17)

Salvation

Salvation is God’s free gift, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ — not earned by works–all have sinned and need a Savior.

Why it matters: You can’t work your way to God; He came all the way to you.

(Rom. 3:23; Eph. 2:8–9)

Water Baptism & Communion

Water Baptism is an outward expression of an inward faith — a public declaration that we belong to Jesus. Baptism does not save, regenerate or transform a person; it celebrates the salvation already received by grace through faith.

We also celebrate communion as a reminder of Jesus’ sacrifice and the New Covenant in His Blood.

Why it matters: These moments remind us that faith is personal but never private.

(Matt. 28:19; Rom. 6:4; 1 Cor. 11:24–26)

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit

The baptism with the Holy Spirit is a distinct and powerful experience after salvation. It empowers believers for life and service and is accompanied by speaking in other tongues as in Acts (2:1–4; 8:5–17; 9:17–18; 10:44–46; 19:1–7).

The Spirit also gives gifts and manifestations to help others — words of wisdom, healing, prophecy, and more — so the Church is strengthened, and the world encounters God’s love.

Why it matters: God didn’t design you to just survive but to live supernaturally empowered.

(Acts 1:8; 2:1–4; 1 Cor. 12:4–11)

Sanctification

Sanctification is both a moment and a process. We are set apart for God at salvation and continually transformed by the Holy Spirit.

Why it matters: God loves you as you are, but He’s committed to making you whole.

(1 Thess. 5:23; 2 Cor. 3:18)

The Church

We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, made up of all believers from every background, nation, and generation who have been redeemed by Jesus. The Church is God’s family on earth — a community called to worship together, grow in faith, and walk in unity and love. Each believer is uniquely gifted to serve and strengthen the Body.

Why it matters: The Church isn’t a building or a brand — it’s the people of God carrying His presence and reflecting His character in the world.

(Matt. 16:18; Eph. 4:11–16; 1 Cor. 12:12–27)

The Mission of The Church

We believe the Church exists to fulfill the Great Commission — Jesus’ command to take the gospel to every person and every place. We are called to live on mission through the power of the Holy Spirit, sharing the good news of Jesus and demonstrating His love in action.

At Harbor City Church, this mission is expressed through four biblical purposes:

  1. Know God — helping people experience salvation and grow in relationship with Him.
  2. Find Freedom — leading believers into healing and transformation through the Holy Spirit.
  3. Discover Purpose — equipping every believer to understand their God-given gifts and calling.
  4. Make a Difference — mobilizing people to serve others and advance God’s Kingdom locally and globally.

Why it matters:
The Great Commission isn’t optional — it’s our purpose. Every believer is called, anointed, and empowered to reach their world for Christ.

(Matt. 28:19–20; Mark 16:15–18; Acts 1:8)

Healing

Jesus’ work on the cross provided healing for our bodies and restoration for our souls. God still heals today through prayer, faith, and the laying on of hands..

Why it matters: God still restores what’s broken — spirit, soul, and body.

(Isa. 53:4–5; Mark 16:18; James 5:14–15)

God’s Will for Provision

God desires His people to flourish in every area of life — spiritually, relationally, and materially — so we can bless others.

Why it matters: God’s generosity toward you equips you to be generous toward others.

(John 10:10; 3 John 2; Phil. 4:19)

Marriage & Family

Marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman — God’s foundation for family and society. Strong families build strong churches and communities.

Why it matters: Healthy families pass on faith, hope, and love to the next generation.

(Gen. 2:24; Eph. 5:22–33; Deut. 6:4–7)

The Return of Jesus

Jesus will return, just as He promised. He will gather His Church, reign as King, and bring final justice to the earth.

Why it matters: Hope isn’t an idea — it’s a person. His name is Jesus.

(1 Thess. 4:16–17; Rev. 20:6)

Eternity

Heaven and hell are real. Eternal life with God is His gift to all who believe in Jesus. Eternal separation is the result of rejecting Him.

Why it matters: Life is short, but eternity is forever — and Jesus makes the difference.

(Heb. 9:27; John 3:16)
