Your Faith has Made You Whole.
The Gospels recount numerous miracles performed by Jesus, acts that defied logic and showcased his divine power. Interestingly, Jesus often attributed the recipient’s healing not just to his own actions, but also to their faith. Let’s explore how Jesus emphasized the importance of faith in healing miracles.
In Acts 10:38 reads,
“And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him.”
Examples from the Gospels:
- The Woman with a Hemorrhage: In Mark 5:25-34, a woman who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years touched Jesus’ garment in faith, believing it would heal her. Jesus acknowledged her faith, saying, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction” (Mark 5:34).
25 Now a certain woman had a flow of blood for twelve years, 26 and had suffered many things from many physicians. She had spent all that she had and was no better, but rather grew worse. 27 When she heard about Jesus, she came behind Him in the crowd and touched His garment. 28 For she said, “If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.”
29 Immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up, and she felt in her body that she was healed of the [a]affliction. 30 And Jesus, immediately knowing in Himself that power had gone out of Him, turned around in the crowd and said, “Who touched My clothes?”
31 But His disciples said to Him, “You see the multitude thronging You, and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ”
32 And He looked around to see her who had done this thing. 33 But the woman, fearing and trembling, knowing what had happened to her, came and fell down before Him and told Him the whole truth. 34 And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”
- The Blind Bartimaeus in Jericho: In Mark 10:46-52, Jesus asked the man what he wanted Him to do for him, The man replied, “I want to see”. Jesus then said to Bartimaeus, “your faith has mad you well.”
46 Now they came to Jericho. As He went out of Jericho with His disciples and a great multitude, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the road begging. 47 And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”
48 Then many warned him to be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”
49 So Jesus stood still and commanded him to be called.
Then they called the blind man, saying to him, “Be of good cheer. Rise, He is calling you.”
50 And throwing aside his garment, he rose and came to Jesus.
51 So Jesus answered and said to him, “What do you want Me to do for you?”
The blind man said to Him, ]“Rabboni, that I may receive my sight.”
52 Then Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus on the road.
- The Ten Lepers: Through the Roof: In Luke 17:11-19, ten men full of leprosy came to Jesus and stood afar off. They asked Jesus for Mercy from plague of this flesh-eating disease. Jesus told them all to go present themselves to the priest for proof of healing. They were all healed as they went to Jerusalem, but only one returns to give thanks. Jesus tells the man, “your faith has healed you.”
11 As Jesus continued on toward Jerusalem, he reached the border between Galilee and Samaria. 12 As he entered a village there, ten men with leprosy stood at a distance, 13 crying out, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”
14 He looked at them and said, “Go show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed of their leprosy.
15 One of them, when he saw that he was healed, came back to Jesus, shouting, “Praise God!” 16 He fell to the ground at Jesus’ feet, thanking him for what he had done. This man was a Samaritan.
17 Jesus asked, “Didn’t I heal ten men? Where are the other nine? 18 Has no one returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?” 19 And Jesus said to the man, “Stand up and go. Your faith has healed you.”
Faith, Believing and Healing:
Jesus’ emphasis on faith extended beyond physical ailments. He often linked faith to spiritual healing and forgiveness, suggesting that a strong belief opened oneself to God’s grace.
So, we see in Acts chapter 10 that Jesus is the one that did the Healing, but in numerous verses we see Him telling people that it was their faith that made them whole.
Jesus brought the power that the Father had anointed Him with, but the people needed to receive that power by faith.
The Enduring Message:
While many people doubt the power of faith in healing, Jesus’ emphasis on faith remains a firm foundation stone of the Gospel. And is not logically interpretated any other way. The message is clear: your faith plays a significant role in the healing process. It encourages trust, hope, and a positive outlook, and faith filled words all of which contribute to healing.
